"Independence Day"!



The Declaration of Independence states, " We hold these truths to be self-evident,  that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Independence Day is an ideal time to reflect on our historical roots & THANK God for the freedoms we have enjoyed throughout our existence as a nation. It is also appropriate to THANK all the men & women who have served in our military, for the sacrifices they have made, & continue to make, to preserve our FREEDOM! As we celebrate with picnics, parades, barbecues, & fireworks, let's be mindful of the value & cost of Liberty. We'll also be taking a peek at some thoughts, reflections, & trivia of Independence Day, so sit back & enjoy the ride.

Happy Birthday America! God has richly Blessed EWE!
Former president John F. Kennedy once stated, " Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty." Did Ewe know that initially, there were 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence? They all knew that they were risking their honor, lives, & fortunes by doing so, yet they remained "ALL-IN"! There were 24 jurists & lawyers, 9 farmers & plantation owners, 11 merchants, & a mixture of physicians, ministers, & scientists. They were all fueled by the fires of Liberty.

When it comes to the 4th, I don't "Horse-Around"!
George Washington once stated,"The preservation of the sacred
fire of liberty and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered... deeply, ...finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people." The United States Congress made the "Fourth", a federal holiday in 1870.The choice of a national bird was debated, with Ben Franklin losing with his choice of a "Turkey" (bird of courage), to John Adams & Thomas Jefferson's choice of the "Bald Eagle"( majestic beauty & great strength,).

Thomas Paine once said, "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."Did Ewe know that the first "giant" public display of fireworks to celebrate "Independence Day" was held in Philadelphia, in 1777?

Daniel Webster once stated, " May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own country!" Another interesting trivia tidbit is that the popular summer "specialty" food back in the 18th & 19th centuries was "TURTLE SOUP"! Aren't Ewe glad that Ewe have the good
fortune to enjoy such "specialties" as hot dogs, burgers, ribs, chickens, etc., in the 21st century?
Liberty is "The Cat's Meow" for me!

Thomas Jefferson's words, " My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no Other people on earth enjoy!" The Fourth of July has another interesting tidbit of trivia. Did Ewe know that John Adams, the 2nd U.S. president, & Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd U.S. president, both died within hours of each other on July 4,1826? It also happened to be the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence!

Celebrating Independence Day is a real BLAST!
I'm a real Patriot, however, I'm not from New England!
Sheep enjoy the Liberty provided for them by a loving & responsible Shepherd. They clearly know their boundaries & celebrate the freedom made available to them .

As Ewe graze in Ewer fields today, walk in the freedom that the Good Shepherd has provided for Ewe. Also make sure to take time to especially enjoy the opportunities Ewe have to be with family! God Bless Ewe & Happy 240th Birthday to America!
